The Screenplayers 'Set Up and Go!' projects came out of the FilmAble Workshops which ran from September 2015 to February 2016, co-funded by the Oyster Project.
Over two terms of workshops, complete novices to video and the iPad learnt hands-on the building blocks of factual filmmaking. We started with techniques on the best use of smartphones for video capture, covering the basics of composition, shot size and planning a sequence. We uploaded our footage into iMovie for the iPhone and learnt basic editing skills. Then we progressed onto interviwing and learning how to capture and edit on the iPad. By the end of the workshops participants practised their new skills by producing short videos featuring local retailers in Lewes.

The Westgate Chapel Video
We made a few practice videos before the Lewesiana and Jonathan Swan. In the video below
Dawn & Billy filmed on an iPhone and edited on the iPad. For this video we focussed on learning
about putting a web videotogether: how to shoot an interview, to take different angles to use as
cutaways, editing our footage in the imovie timeline, and adding music and titles. We didn't use
external microphones for this, as we were focussing on construction and composition.
